Midnight Lessons

Sometimes it’s more prudent to be thankful for the absences we’ve acquired than wondering what we’ve yet to gain. A loss is a win when something subtracts from your life.

Celebrate grace instead of shackling yourself to your humanity. If you shine a light on a human for long enough, eventually you will see where they crack. You cannot change your nature, you can only forgive it.

Sometimes we can’t speak our ambitions to the universe. They form and collide inside of us like stellar nurseries. They become hot gas giants and then cold brown dwarfs and they never see the light of day. Learn to honor the intentions of the heart, not to chide the failings of the body.

We can wrestle with our imperfection until nothing is left. Or we can celebrate the grace we receive to live in the first place.
